CREATIVE SPACES

When I was featured on Well Made, they took some fantastic photos of me / my business. Can I get a copy of those photos?

Generating original photography for this website is a large investment, and for this reason we are quite careful about where our imagery ends up. We often allow independent creatives and small business owners to use our photographs on their personal blogs and websites, this is assessed on a case by case basis.  We don’t usually allow our photos to be published in other publications (either online or in print) without remuneration.  Please email us with your photo usage request, and we’ll do our best to assist.

This is definitely a ‘how long is a piece of string’ question. It really depends on your brief including factors such as the nature of your request, materials, finish, size, quantity, timeframe, the level of experience of the maker you want to work with, and how long it will take to produce.

What we can say with certainty is it is helpful to provide an indication of the size of your budget, and people are frequently pleasantly surprised at how competitive it can be to commission something unique from a local producer.

How do I commissioning someone?
Can you help me find what I am looking for?

Certainly! Well Made offer a referral service to assist you in commissioning the right creative professional for your needs. If you want to commission a visual artist, craftsperson or designer but are not sure who to choose, simply complete your brief and we will get back to you.

Well Made is a Guildhouse initiative and Guildhouse have been referring our artist, designer and maker members for nearly 50 years. We can offer you the benefit of our expert industry knowledge and experience. We can help you connect with a creative professional for your workshops, artistic service or to commission a new work or fit out for your home or office. Well Made and Guildhouse have a high success rate recommending the right creative professional to work with you to realise your brief.

Can I buy something now?

Well Made isn’t equipped for online payments, but you can reach the individuals and organisations who are listed on the site either personally through contact details they may have provided, (if they have a studio you can visit in the location section of their profile listing), through their representative or stockist. Be sure to check out their website, as some will have immediate point of sale opportunities there.

What is fabulous about Well Made is it provides an avenue for you to commission something entirely unique.  If you’re interested in commissioning a visual artist, craftsperson or designer, use the ‘accepts commissions’ filter in the EXPLORE section so you can easily find those who do! They are also easily identified by the red ‘commissions’ flag just like this one. Creative Spaces and Supporters accept commissions too!

To commission someone, select the commission option on their profile, and provide a brief by filling in the form that pops up.  Not all makers can be contacted directly; some handle commissions through their gallery, manager or stockist and some have nominated Well Made to assist them with the commissioning process.  When you submit the form your brief will be emailed to the relevant party and you can expect to hear form them within seven days. Well Made can liaise with the client to develop the brief and manage the inquiry. If you have any general queries about the commissioning process or are unsure about your requirements, please see the Well Made referral option. There is no charge involved in making an enquiry.
